This file outlines the structure of the Pyrenees (Cerdanya) temperature/humidity network and data files. Between 26 and 30 July 2012, 40 sites were installed with temperature/RH loggers in a network surrounding the research station. Loggers were set to record every 30 minutes. The logger sites are listed in alphabetical order and the list of station names is given in the excel spreadsheet, loggerdetailsPyrenees.xls. Note that the Das site is also known as Val4.The first tab gives the station coordinates. Every year since 2012 the sites have been downloaded (usually, but not always in July). Individual loggers are switched over in the field, details of which are given in the additional tabs (listed by month). Sometimes because of logger switch over times there is temporary missing data as the logger is switched over - given symbol . in the actual data files. For the data itself, there are two separate files, one for air temperature (airtemp1221.txt) and one for RH (hum1221.txt). Each row is an observation time. The first five values in each row are: case year month date time (all times UTC). There is no daylight saving. Subsequent columns are the data for the 51 stations in the same alphabetical order, e.g. cad1, cad2, cad3, cad4, cad5, cold1 etc There were originally 40 locations installed in July 2012. In July 2014 ten new sites (Cold1-Cold10) were added to the network, making 50 sites in total. Thus data is missing for the first 2 years for these stations. In July 2016 one new site Colpch was added to the network to replace Eyne5 which had been stolen. Eyne5 is not included in the dataset. In July 2018 the Val5 site was moved to a new location Estavar (now 51 sites) . These are treated as 2 separate locations in the dataset. The rest of this file gives details of bad data, or other relevant information which pertains to individual loggers in individual years. In most cases bad data has been removed. 25-28 July 2013 Loggers were found to have faulty O rings which would lead to premature battery decay. The following sites failed early Mas5 logger battery failed - data ok up to 23 Mar 2013 only Cad3 logger battery failed - data ok up to 8 April 2013 only Val4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 10 April 2013 only Eyne4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 26 April 2013 only Lles4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 28 April 2013 only Rom5 logger battery failed - data ok up to 28 April 2013 only Rom4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 15 May 2013 only Lles2 logger battery failed - data ok up to 8 June 2013 only Val5 logger battery failed - data ok up to 8 June 2013 only Rom1 logger battery failed - data ok up to 19 June 2013 only Font4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 28 June 2013 only Eyne2 logger battery failed - data ok up to 5 July 2013 only Eyne1 logger battery failed - data ok up to 14 July 2013 only Cad1 logger battery failed - data ok up to 16 July 2013 only Cad2 logger battery failed - data ok up to 26 July 2013 only Eyne5 had been stolen (no data) and was not replaced 31 Oct - 3 Nov 2013 Mal1 logger battery failed - data ok up 4 Oct 2013 only Eyne4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 19 Oct 2013 only Mal4 logger battery failed - data ok up to 27 Oct 2013 only 23 - 28 July 2014 All loggers ok! 10 new loggers (Cold1-Cold10) installed 8 - 13 July 2015 All loggers ok 20 - 25 July 2016 Cold 1 had been stolen (no data) and was replaced in a more secure position New logger was installed at Colpch on 25 July 20 - 25 July 2017 Val5 had been stolen (no data) and was replaced in a more secure position (uphill in bush) *Extra sensor was added at Das in a tube (to compare with standard screen) - called Dastube 25 - 30 July 2018 Rom2 had been stolen (no data) but was replaced in same position Lles3 - the tree had fallen over and the tube was facing sun. Data ok until 2330 on 28 Feb 2018 Val5 - removed from bush (deemed to give unreliable records for 2017-2018: these are to be treated with caution) and replaced at a new location: Estavar on 29 July 2018 The Estvar and Val5 locations are treated as separate in the dataset - so there are 51 sites in all. *Dastube was moved to the fence at 1700 on 29 July 2018 - there are now still 2 loggers at Das (one in standard screen, the other on tube on fence) The data from Dastube is NOT included in the dataset files and is available on request. 17 - 22 July 2019 All loggers ok 31 July and 1 August 2020 Due to COVID restrictions loggers were changed in stages Loggers in Spain: Cadi 1-5, Cold1-4, Lles1-4 and Val1-3 swapped by JMiro (16) 3 - 5 August 2020 Loggers in France: Font0-5, Rom1-5, Eyne1-4, Estavar and Colpch swapped by NPepin (16) 18 - 20 September 2020 Logegrs in Spain: Mas1-5, Mal1-5, Cold5-Cold10, Val4, Lles5 swapped by JMiro (19) 21 July 2021 Loggers in Masella swapped by JMiro (5) 23- 27 August 2021 Remainder swapped: all loggers ok 19 - 23 July 2022 All loggers ok. Masella loggers (Mas1, Mas2, Mas3) were removed from specialist screens and replaced on trees with standard tubing similar to all other sensors.
